Leighton Vander Esch trade

Postby BradyT » Tue Jan 29, 2019 7:07 am

Made the following trade for Vander Esch for team in sig:

Gave up: 2019 1st(1.10), 2020 1st(from my own team), 2021 2nd(own team)

Got: Leighton Vander Esch, 2019 5th(mid range), 2020 2nd(mid range)

2 pts per solo tackle, Int and sacks 4 pts

LB are premium in this scoring format. So there was no way to get him for just a single first and some.

Not a fan. LBs grow on trees every season.

Don't think I would have paid that much, you already have a solid LB core.

The problem in this league is, everybody is brutally keen on LB´s, selecting them with mid 1st rounders and sucking the FA market dry. There´s no way to know, if I had any chance of getting my fingers at the top LBs with those picks(more likely not) and if even if I would´ve been able so, there´s no way to know if an elite product would´ve been the result in the end.
With Vander Esch, I have the feeling I got a super stud for the next decade, paying the necessary price for a made product in an attempt to further improve my team any possible way(with LB and DE being the main weak spots with LBs having the biggest influence with this kind of IDP heavy scoring).
I paid a good amount of FF currency, but I also know what I paid it for and now being able to safely start another stud(and top 5 dynasty LB) on a weekly basis.

Being able to start Deion Jones, Vander Esch, Telvin Smith and two out of E.Kendricks,Schobert and McKinney is huge in this league.

On paper I allready had the best team in the league, but still lost in the first round of the playoffs. Low end 1st rd picks dont really help there compared to getting a made product. Not saying it was cheap, but it definately helps me more than waiting and hoping for more with those late 1sts.
