LB advice

Postby bot » Sat Jan 19, 2019 1:24 pm

For team in sig. I have been kicking the tires on trying to get another elite LB to pair with Wagner. Asked about D Jones, Edmunds and Martinez. As you can see tho I currently have a bunch of young guys at the position on the end of my bench that I have been holding and waiting to see who (if any) hit next year -- .

Do I have enough to build a solid LB group with what I have or should I just bite the bullet and give up what it takes to get Deion or Edmunds (prob something along the lines of a late 1st in value based on convos with those owners)?

Thanks Lukky. It's always what I have felt in the past. I know with a pretty good starting lineup now I have found myself looking for holes and small ways I can improve but I know I never liked the price I would need to pay to get a stud LB.

I would stand pat. You can put together a sufficient unit with Wagner, Demario, Warner, Kirksey, Shaq, and Milano...and then see what happens with Burfict.

Is this for the general IDP leagues that aren't balanced in scoring?

Darius Leonard was #19 and Luke Kuechly was #32 in scoring in my league, across all players. In that instance, would you still advise against going after an elite LB?

Yes, because Leonard’s year was a total outlier. The #15 linebacker didn’t score that many less points than the #2 or #3.

I still wish you could "like" comments in these forums.

Damn. Seriously, thank you for the reality check. Even with our high scoring settings for IDP, there is only a 48.00 point spread between #3 and #15, which is only a 3.00 point difference per game across a 16-game season.

I agree with Lukky, never buy although I am going after Roquan Smith. Half of the reason is the guy is a trade whore and I think I can get him relatively cheap.

Just as a gage what is relatively cheap? I tried to acquire Jared Davis last off-season to no avail. But I also know not to pay too much when trading for lbs.

If you can get a long-term starting LB for a 4th or even late 3rd, that’s fine. I wouldn’t pay more than that unless they’re a top 10ish dynasty LB.

Yeah Ive offered high 3rd with a player back and got quick rejects for Jared davis. Im sure I'd get the same for Roquan or any of the other rookies. I have a hard time giving up a 2nd considering I can just draft one of the top rookie LBs with that pick. Thx for the info bud, you have confirmed what I thought.
I only play in 16x53 with 10+ taxi size leagues with full IDP. All are PPR and most value return yardage. So my opinions may be skewed To these deep roster leagues.

Dynasty Fantasy is not a game, it’s a full time hobby.

Haven't sent anything yet, will do around draft time but I'm thinking something like round 3 (8 round draft with balanced IDP scoring) John Brown and Nyheim Hines. (maybe throw in Ekeler, Moncrief or Bernard too)

Light offer but he's a trade whore who has no depth.

I generally try to be on the side selling stud lbs, drafting guys like deion Jones, jaylon Smith, darius Leonard, Jordan hicks, kwon Alexander, etc. As rookies and then selling off the extras once they hit. In rookie drafts there are always nearly surefire starting lbs who fall if you do your research and that can be had late 2nd or 3rd round. Take shots at them and when you have too many sell off.

The more I play IDP, the more I don't care about having a stud LB. Give me stud DE's because that give's me an advantage over my opponents. I want to have 5-6 LB's I can feel comfortable with every week. That or 4-5 and two rookies I'm hopeful on.
