Roster Cuts

Postby NateNFL » Fri Apr 15, 2011 12:11 pm

I would post this in Team Advice but I would rather hear some opinions on the IDPs. My roster is below. We can keep 24 players plus 5 taxi guys who were rookies last year. This is a 14 team conference within a 42 team league (essentially 14 teams for the player universe).

IDP scoring is:
Tackle 2
Assist 1
Sack 3
Int 3
FF 2 FR 2
Int and Fum ret yards 10 for 1 point

I know I want to keep any offensive player of value (they are hard to come by) and after the draft I think I'll be pretty confident about linebackers. My question is with DE. I think I have a solid group but when crunching the numbers I think I will have to cut some loose who I think could be pretty good. How many do you think I should keep? Which ones? Remember that Morgan and Graham can go onto the taxi squad to replace Price or maybe Thomas. Oh yeah, its start 11 on def. 2 DEs and a DT every week. I could cut Ngata to keep another DE but he was a beast last year in the DT spot.

A quick glance has me looking at this for your keepers. I think you need upgrades at LB. Highlighted in red are the borderline risks that you might have to move in order to accomidate something else you like. It may be a few years before Price has any value, but he could end up returning kicks, and become more involved in the PPR, but I'm thinking not so much because of the dual TE threat in New England. I might keep another offensive player or two instead of Price, Hall or Lenon, but that's about all I see right now.

Since you start a DT, I'd keep Ngata - he is a beast and is a worthy protect - I'd even keep him over James Hall, and maybe Vanden Bosch, who always has a tendancy to disappear. Of course, you can cut a ton of your dbacks since those are easily replaced.

Good luck.

Thanks guys. I was able to upgrade at TE by moving a couple of border line cut guys. Right now its looking like i may only keep Landry in the secondary and cut the rest.

@ Vintage: I will have to keep a few more WRs since you start 3-6 but you kind of said that in your analysis.

I appreciate the help.

I would echo this. I do like the potential of Price though. I think he has good verticle speed and could emerge as a deep threat.
