....not starting in 2018?

read a report that Gruden likes Erik Harris to start over him....

Joseph is a top 5 guy at the position among all the rankings...whats up with that?

Strong safety is a lot like off-ball LB for IDP. Guys who rack up tackles on the field oftentimes are not the best actual players when it comes to winning football games.

Now I can’t personally speak to Joseph, he’s not a guy I’ve scouted or really even paid much attention to on film, but guys like Jon Cyprien, for instance, IDP players have long lusted after while real-life coaches sought to replace.

I always felt like physically Joseph was smaller than ideal for a SS. He is also, from a skill set standpoint not the true box safety people want him to be. He has also never been a consistent idp producer despite being constantly ranked as though he is by the dynasty idp "experts". Last year in one league, for instance, he finished 38th in points per game among dbs and tya5 was a boost from 2016
4th and long: ppr, 10 team, qb, rb, rb, wr, wr, wr, flex, flex, te, k, dl, dl, lb, lb, db, db, dflex, dflex

QB: Kirk Cousins Tyrod Taylor, Jared Goff
RB: Melvin Gordon, Ezekiel Elliot, Theo Riddick, D'Onta Foreman, James Conner, Jamal Williams
WR: Alshon Jeffrey, Amari Cooper, Sammy Watkins, Keenan Allen, Jordan Matthews, Cole Beasley, Robby Anderson, Corey Davis, Breshad Perriman, Eli Rogers
TE: Eric Ebron, , David Njoku, Jack Doyle
K: Will Lutz
DL: Frank Clark, Danielle Hunter
LB: Luke Kuechley, Bobby Wagner, Jordan Hicks, Mark Barron, Darron Lee

Was a huge fan of Joseph coming out, misty in football terms and not IDP though. Outside of draft capital, the ranking often seemed optimistic to me, and I was always unsure if he could hold up physically given his play style. He made plays on the ball in college which he hasn’t in the pros. I had no idea how he was in true football ability as I rarely watch Oakland, but the fact he may not start is a shocker for sure. If that’s the case, he will have other opportunity elsewhere perhaps, but his fantasy stock plummets and will be unlikely to come back to current/prior levels.
