Jabril Peppers 2018 Outlook

Postby SkillsPino » Wed Aug 15, 2018 8:41 am

Anyone counting on Peppers to make a jump this year in IDP? I saw some of the Browns game and checking the stats. He played 21 snaps, had a tackle, and blitz well. Also had a decent punt return. I have barely heard him mentioned this offseason, which I feel can't be a good thing. On the Browns website they don't seem to list FS/SS, just S. So I don't even know if he is the DB to have in Cleveland.

He was dropped in my league which has return yards, I am interested in his outlook as well. I would like to scoop him up after our rookie draft.

In my league we get points for TDs (return), but not yards. So basically if he isn't a 5+ tackle guy then he serves no purpose.

He will almost certainly be the Browns starting SS. Yes, he has value. I would not pay much to acquire him but he should be a starting SS in this league which is worth something.

Peppers was loved here a year ago. Esp in return leagues. Now I'd say he's a DB3.

I would go as far as to say people are sleeping on him. He was playing out of position last year in a position that doesn’t typically produce fantasy points. Now he is finally set to play the role we all wanted him to play as a rookie and he is currently the kick and punt returner. I’m not sure what’s not to like about him, especially at his current price. I see him as a DB2 with upside.

He's expected to play closer to the LOS as their SS. However, if Gregg Williams continues to keep all 3 LB's on the field in base and sub packages, competition for tackles will be tough. He might creep into DB2 range, but I'm pegging him as a streamer/DB3. Not sold on him as a return man either. Yes I'm disappointed that I drafted him, but will give him this season to prove anything.
