Top DT value in DT required leagues

Postby R2D2 » Fri Jun 22, 2018 7:15 am

Hello,

I was wondering what the top DT value is in a single DT required league with standard IDP scoring? Top DT scored 9.5ppg (DT12 - 7ppg), compared to DE who topped off at 14 ppg.

What's the extra 2.5ppg worth paying for the elite DT like Snacks Harrison, Aaron Donald, Buckner

This can be more or less relevant depending on your scoring system, and it sounds like yours is a bit muted, but in a vacuum the DT position is a lot like the TE position on offense in that it is extremely top heavy. So, of you are able to acquire a top 3 to 5 DT asset like a Buckner/Atkins/Short (Fill in your highest ranked/projected DT) it can award you a serious advantage at the position. However, the drop off after the top prospects is significant, so if you miss, you are best to wait on the position and grab upside later in your draft.

With your specific scoring system, it seems to me that the advantage of taking a Buckner/Atkins etc. earlier isn't significant enough to pass up on some offensive depth or another IDP stud imo. I would ake a flyer later in the draft personally.

I wouldn't pay much for just 2.5 points difference but the DT requirement would make me take a few shots at cheaper high upside guys like Maurice Hurst, Malik McDowell, tavon Bryan, etc. To go along with either a solid mid level starter or an older very good starter like suh, atkins, short, etc. If one falls

Malik Jackson was in the top 5 of our league last year, should be cheaper than Buckner, Donald

Yeah, pretty sure Donald will be staying at DE on MFL. That said, I can't access MFL at the moment to check our actual scoring, but in a league of mine with solid DT scoring, I roll with a DT in my IDP Flex spot most weeks (Suh, Atkins). In that particular format, having high scoring DTs pays off.

I've got Dt at 3.5 pts per tackle, Safety at 2.5, De and cb at 3 with lb at 2, an assist counts as 1/3 of a solo. makes for alot of different ways to solve the flex spots.
