Hayes Pullard?

Postby J. Edgar » Tue May 29, 2018 3:41 pm

It appears the Chargers have gone to a 4-3 from a 3-4 and Pullard is listed at MLB, is he worth rostering now or will Jatavis Brown man the middle even though he's listed behind Perryman on the weak side?

Perryman was the MLB in their 4-3 last year, and should be going forward. I think the weak side will be Brown & Kyzir White. Pullard is bench depth.

I'm not so sure here.

Pullard playing inside when Denzel Perryman wasn't healthy. As soon as Perryman returned Pullard was used sparingly. The only exception being week 17 when Pullard played 45 snaps and Perryman just 15. Perryman wasn't 100% though and had just missed week 16.

The only player I feel confident in at all here is Perryman. But here's my best guess:

Perryman Mike in base. Inside LB in sub packages.
Pullard Backup to Perryman.
Jatavis Role player. I'm expecting limited action frankly. I don't see a 3-down role
Kyle Emmanuel Battling for the Sam role in base.
Kyzir White Battling for snaps with Jatavis Brown
Uchenna Nwosu Favourite for the Sam role in base.
Adrian Phillips Will in base. Sharing snaps as the 2nd ILB in sub packages.

So long story short I've got Perryman as an every down player with everyone else fighting it out for the second spot.

Where did you get this from? I don't think it;s the case at all. it would be extremely odd for Gus Bradley to make that sort of change.

It's possible that Melvin Ingram has been reclassified as a LB instead of a DE given he lines up in a 2-point stance all the time. But really it's the same old Seahawks/Jags/Falcons defense. They use some 34 principles in terms of gap responsibility but it's a 4-man front even if one of them is standing up.
