IDP Newbie

Postby Forza_Azzurri » Sat Mar 24, 2018 10:50 am

My first time in an IDP league & I just completed a 4 team dispersal draft. Not knowing how to evaluate defensive players, I focused on lower salary options so that I had cap room to improve my WRs & to become more aggressive adding defensive players as I become more comfortable with IDP.

Appreciate any feedback on the team (in sig) ... my thoughts are that I need to improve my DE's but in general my defensive will be respectable at least.

AS Roma follower ? Welcome in DLF community :)

Guess what ? I drafted Charlton and Barnett too and i'm waiting for a breakout (more Derek than Taco to be honest)

QB : Average but respectable

RB : Kamara-Mixon is a good duo specially AK in PPR. Foreman is supposed to lead one day in HOU but when ? I wouldn' count on Drake as my RB1 but as a RB2 pace of change it's fine(if he can outperform Gore or nobody else arrives and it's not written yet)

WR : As much as you have not a large roster, there is no WR1

TE : Maybe the best starter and a monster athletic guy (but can he one day translate in a great TE ?)

K : -

DT : -

LB : Need to be upgraded a lot. Not even a top 20-25.

CB : Position that could be easily replaced (and yours are fine anyway)

S : Ex-Packers duo and Church are pretty solid

Thanks ... final roster will get quite a bit larger (max 70). After I sign my draft picks I should have about $20 mill in cap space ($100 mill cap).

WR is my primary target in FA & Draft. As for LB, should I target WLB? Are EDGE LB worthless from a fantasy standpoint? Looking at my leagues scoring, it’s pretty balanced ... not a lot of discrepancies between position groups.

In a fantasy persective i think 4-3 MLB > 4-3 WLB > 3-4 ILB > 4-3 SLB = 3-4 OLB who are both mainly pass rushers. But there are some exceptions if you have big scoring with sacks + QB hits + tackles for losses added to the sacks, forced fumbles and fumble recoveries (with all these stats in my dynasty, Chandler Jones managed to finish #10 with 202 points last year)

The value of rush lbs is really dependent on league scoring. In some leagues they have no value at all. In one of my leagues Chandler Jones was the top scoring lb last year and I am pretty sure the 2nd highest defensive scorer and 4 rush lbs were among the top 14 so in a 14 team league were lb1s. In my tackle heavy league Jones was I think like 40th so worthless.
