Matt Judon

Whats the deal with this guy? I mean obviously 14 tackles and 2 sacks is an anomaly, but how much so? From what im reading he is a guy who has slowly been grabbing more and more of the defensive snaps for the Ravens (80% or more 3 of the last 5 games) and for the first time in week 6 led all Ravens LB in snaps, even outsnapping Terrell Suggs vs the Bears. Is this a sign of a small college guy who is figuring it out? I did a search and it looks like he was on a few guys in this forum radars last season, but honestly i had never heard of him until his monster game last week.

Im asking because he is listed as a DL in my one IDP league, but is listed as SLB on depth charts. In this league DL get 3 pts per solo, vs 2 for everyone else (he scored 42 pts for his monster game last week). It looks like top DL (Ingram, Bosa, JPP, Cam Jordan, etc) are all good for 3-5 solos per game. If Judon's increased snap count continues, is there any way he approaches that from his SLB spot?

I went ahead and grabbed him off the WW, just in case. The "Oh it was just one game" mentality caused me to miss out on Demarcus Lawrence and Ramon Humber among others early this season. So im not shy about grabbing a guy or two who had a big game last week. I targetted John Simon this week also, but got beat to the punch for him.

Judon's upcoming schedule has a nice mix of teams that run a lot (Hous, Tenn, Indy, Pitt) and teams that give up a lot of sacks (Det, GB, Buff, Cleve). Seems like a decent formula for a mid season breakout, eh?

Thoughts?

I wish I could offer some feedback here, but this also came as a surprise to me. Thanks for putting him on my radar tho. I'm going to hang tight another week and see how he performs.

FYI, found this on an IDP site I use about him:

Judon had primarily been a part-time player heading into last week's contest against the Bears. However, he looks to be somewhat of an every-down player now logging 88% of the snaps last week. He's not going to face 50+ rush attempts each week so expect the tackle numbers to plummet back down into the normal range for a pass-rushing OLB but he can provide some value in deeper, big play scoring formats as an LB4+.

As stated above, it appears he's a full time player now. But he's an OLB in a 3-4 so in most tackle heavy formats, he doesn't have crazy value. If he's listed as a DE tho, he's definitely worth a stash. I would wait at least another week or two before starting him, just in case he goes back to a part-time role
