Sheldon Rankins

Postby The Red Rooster » Wed Sep 20, 2017 6:33 am

I hate to move on quickly after two weeks, but, has anyone watched him? His stat lines have been very undesirable. This is for team in sig, so, its only a 10 team league where we start 2 DTs but guys like Chris Jones, DJ Reader, Michael Brockers, Bennie Logan, Dalvin Tomlinson, etc are available on the waiver wire. Its a fairly tackle heavy league with 2 pts for all tackles and 6 points for sacks. Cut Rankins?

EDIT: this is for team is you can see, ESPN has some odd designations for DT. While Bailey and J Allen have been "meh" I do feel good with them as my "DTs" moving forward with Nkemdiche as a back up.

Also an owner who has not seen him yet this year more than a couple snaps of the NE game, would like some views from those who actually watched it but I did see his snap count was way down in that game compared to the first. Was there some logic behind that? I can deal with an occasional stat line like the first, I don't expect a DT to blow up every week, but with a 0 following it I am nervous

I haven't watched Rankins this year.

But in a 10-team league that gives out DT designations to 3-4 DEs as well, I don't think you're crazy to cut bait. Maybe one more week just in case tho

Depending on the value of DTs in any particular settings, Rankins is looking like his 2017 may not be a breakout year. He is currently getting a high volume of snaps through two weeks, but losing Nick Fairley in the offseason could be the reason he is unable to convert that volume into meaningful production.

In shallower leagues, he is any easy cut. In deeper leagues, you might find a trade partner for him and try to buy him back if you think this could be a lost season.
