Injured players: Hold or Cut?

In general, how highly ranked does an IDP have to be to hold him if he is out for the year, or a significant portion of the year? My IDP team was decimated by injuries the first week. My IR is only 3 slots and is already full (Edelman, Dixon, Ware) and now i have Jurrell Freeman out for the season and Reuben Foster who will be out a month. Add in Stephon Tuitt, Cory James and Donta Hightower who will apparently be playing injured if they play at all for the forseeable future, and all of a sudden i have a roster space crunch.

I mean i know the answer is you roster the best players. I grabbed a few guys off the WW to play (Klein, Kwiatkowski, Bailey), im just wondering how you guys handle injuries to your IDPs? Is holding a guy like Freeman worth it? What about guys who are just dinged up like James, Tuitt and Hightower? Is it position specific....are you more likely to hold a LB than a DB or DL?

Foster is young enough to stash on IR if you have room. I'd dump Freeman at his age, tho. The main players worth an IR stash on defense will be DEs and elite LBs or DBs. I wouldn't use valuable roster/IR spots for middling IDPs.

Depends on your league and scarcity.

More often than not, I can find cheap S production and I typically stash depth. Thus, I would drop someone like Eric Berry.

No way you drop Tuitt or Foster, but other LB's, especially meddling ones like James or Hightower (now), sure.

If you're finding guys like Klein and Kwiatkowski on the wire, you're league is shallow enough to drop most of these guys.

Its a 12 team league that starts 2 DL, 3 LB 2 DB and an IDPflex.

Specifically Klein. He should have been picked up long ago.

I would hang on to Foster and Freeman. Freeman is a stud.
