Why is Cox so highly valued?

Hey everyone, I'm usually on the other fantasy football forum for offensive players, but I have been really struggling with IDP these past couple of years and have been aggressively trying to fix that.

I just grabbed Cox off waivers(today) as people constantly rank him highly and someone else just had to drop him to make roster space. I was hoping someone who is a Cox fan could shed some light on why he is so highly valued? Also, on what they might do to improve my roster?

We start 2 LB, 2DL, 2DB, and 2DP with my roster as:
LB: Mosely, J Houston, Kirksey, Von Miller, Jaylon Smith
DL: Bosa, Solomon Thomas, Cox
DB: Earl Thomas, Jabrill Peppers

Scoring is:
3 pts per SK
4 per INT
4 per FF
.5 per TKA
1 per stuff
6 per BLKK
1 per FR
6 per SF
1 per solo TK
1 per PD

First off he's a good DT but not a player I would be targeting in a start two DL league. Kind of like always using a safety at DB. Who are some of your FA options on the DL that are DE's? Your LB's look solid having two big sack guys in Houston and Miller.

This.

Cox won't rack up sacks #'s like DEs will.

Cox is certainly more valuable in a DT-required league, but just like Aaron Donald, he's consistently been a top 25 DL overall. His tackle numbers are usually great, and he can accumulate sacks with the best of them. Donald, Cox, Atkins, etc are all worthy owns over many DE's

Thanks for the feedback, how do you normally search for players on waivers? I'm in an ESPN league, so should I filter by % owned, tackles, sacks, % of people adding or % starting?

I can post the top players on waivers for LB, DL, and DB(maybe 5-10 each) if you help me to filter for them

I would filter by projected pts for the season, and then cross reference that against the pts scored this past week. Post results and I'll look them over

Here is a try:
LBs: Chickillo(Pit), Suggs, Klein, Vigil, Ramon Humber(Buf), Demario Davis(NYJ), Toomer(LAC), Lorenzo Alexander(BUF, can be DE too), Hightower(NE), B Marshall(Den)

DL: Fowler, M Daniels(GB), reed(Atl), Hicks(Chi), Pierce(Bal), Suh(Mia), L Joseph(Min), Short(Car), Heyward(Pit), Dareus(Buf), McCoy(TB), Harrison(NYG), Wake(Mia)

DB: Killebrew, Quin, McCourty, Branch, Haden(Pit), Demps(Chi), Weddle, Searcy, Coleman, Peterson, Talib, Butler(NE), Sherman, Sorensen(KC), Hargreaves, Maxwell(Mia),

Thank you so much for looking it over, just to mention that I'll have to drop someone for any of these players, so I'm really looking for big contributors of potential superstars in the future

You should look at Hicks, C. Heyward, and Suh for DLs.

For LBs, look at Humber, B. Marshall, and D. Davis

Thanks for the feedback, would you drop anyone for those players? Kirksey for one of those LB?

Drop Houston and/or Miller. I'd consider grabbing Vigil as well.

If you want production this year, Hicks and Wake would be targets for me to pick up for DL to pair up with Bosa over any of the other free agents or guys on your bench at the DL position.

Wake should be owned. He should end with 10/12 sacks.
