Clowney's Position for IDP DE or OLB

Postby TheCageyBees » Thu Sep 07, 2017 9:55 am

In my leagues docs it says that position is determined by ourlads (or espn) depth charts. In all depth charts, J. Clowney is listed as OLB. On the roster he's listed as DE. There's lots of articles talking about his use as DE in nickel and sub packages. The commish dropped him because he was listed as an OLB, another player picked him up anticipating the new position designation, hasn't happened. What do you think? (I'm an assistant commish information gathering)

Also not sure what you're asking for, but if it helps, he's classified as a DE/EDR on ESPN (which is eligible for the DE or EDR positions, but not LB).

I think for this year whatever he is listed as now (DE on ESPN and CBS) he will stay that way, and next year will be another roll of the dice as to him keeping the same designation or switching.

I think in real football he's an OLB for the Texans. He is too light in the pants to play DE in a 3-man front. That doesn't mean he won't come up and put his hand in the dirt for a number of plays, but he's truly an OLB in that defense.

Clowney would surely switch to DE if Houston were to change alignments to a 4-3 base, which would also make JJ Watt a 3-tech DT. I don't forsee them trying to do this with the success they have with their current personnel. Whitney Mercilus opposite Clowney is a phenomenal OLB duo. Perhaps they can challenge for the title of BEST IN THE LEAGUE this year. I believe that title currently belongs to Khalil Mack and Bruce Irvin.
Just a guy who loves fantasy football - specifically defense.
