ATL LB's

Postby The Red Rooster » Mon Jul 17, 2017 10:58 am

I know Deion Jones had a very good rookie season...the Falcons seemed set with him and DeVondre Campbell at the MLB and WLB...then they drafted Duke Riley. They were certainty lacking depth (as Ishmeal saw time there despite being a safety during injuries)....so, was this simply a depth signing? Im in a startup auction and wondering if any of these guys (Campbell and Riley....Jones is gone and did not go cheap) are solid targets as I am basically not looking to spend stud money on LBs (despite it being a 14 teamer, start 3 LBs).

I believe it to be solely depth. I think Beasley will play SLB and on passing downs drop down in place of Clayborn/Takk.

I believe Riley can beat out Campbell for WLB. See what happens come training camp though.

They've said that Campbell is moving to SAM so I think they'll start off training camp with Jones at MIKE, Ishmael at WILL and Campbell at SAM in base, but the important question for IDP is who will play alongside Jones in nickel. I could see it being both Campbell, Ishmael or Riley.

For the longer term Campbell and Ishmael aren't the most scary competition so there is a clear pathway for Riley to potentially get a significant role IF he figures things out, but I expect him to purely be a backup player early on. He will have to earn his playing time and they will likely ease him in so don't expect anything from him to start the season unless he comes in and crushes training camp.

Jones is way, way, way ahead of these other ATL LBs when it comes to dynasty value so I would only go after these players if the price is super cheap.

Jones is the only one I'd want at this point, I think Riley at WLB and DeVondre at SLB is how it'll shake out.
WR: OBJ, Dez, AJG, K. Allen, Crowder, K. White;
RB: Gurley, Montgomery, Lacy; QB: Wilson, Goff; TE: Eifert;
DL: Bosa, Danielle H., Ansah, Frank Clark;
LB: Telvin, Kwon, Collins, Jatavis, D. Lee; DEF: KC;
DB: Burnett, C-Dix, S. Davis; K:

Rookie Bench: C. Coleman, Doctson, N. Spence, Jaylon, Jack;
IR:

Start 1 QB, 1 RB, 2 RB/WR/TE, 2 WR, 1 WR/TE, 1 TE, 1 K, 1 DEF, 4 LB, 3 DL, 4 DB
12 teams, Non-PPR, tackle heavy w/ TFL.
