Rob Quinn LB outlook

Postby jnappy » Wed Jul 05, 2017 9:22 am

What do we think about Rob Quinn's outlook as a LB? Is he worth pursuing since his current owners may be looking to get any value they can after the reclassification hit?

In big play leagues, he is worth a middling attempt at landing an LB1. If Von Miller or Justin Houston were worth a damn with 20 sacks, you can reasonably hope for that while Quinn is still young enough and removed enough from his injuries...

But if your format doesn't do anything for big plays, ignore him.

Agreed, I like him in heavy play scoring formats but think he is nothing more than a fringe filler in other formats

Bruiser is right. The only reason I can think of to hold in non-big play leagues would be just in case the Rams switch back to a 4-3 in the next couple of years.
WR: OBJ, Dez, AJG, K. Allen, Crowder, K. White;
RB: Gurley, Montgomery, Lacy; QB: Wilson, Goff; TE: Eifert;
DL: Bosa, Danielle H., Ansah, Frank Clark;
LB: Telvin, Kwon, Collins, Jatavis, D. Lee; DEF: KC;
DB: Burnett, C-Dix, S. Davis; K:

Rookie Bench: C. Coleman, Doctson, N. Spence, Jaylon, Jack;
IR:

Start 1 QB, 1 RB, 2 RB/WR/TE, 2 WR, 1 WR/TE, 1 TE, 1 K, 1 DEF, 4 LB, 3 DL, 4 DB
12 teams, Non-PPR, tackle heavy w/ TFL.

I just traded Ginn for Quinn and a 5th in an orphan rebuild of mine. Ginn should be productive with Brees this season but generally I like collecting good OLBs in the hope that they might get a DE classification at some point. And even if he stays an LB I like him as a depth option in reasonably balanced leagues. He's shown flashes in the past of being a dominant game-changing force when healthy and I trust Wade Phillips to get the most out of him.

Even in big play leagues, Quinn should not be anything more than your third LB. He just doesn't provide enough tackles to make up for a game without a sack.

That may be a bit premature, as the new scheme can't be expected to emulate the former. We do know that Quinn can get to the QB, and we know that Wade Phillips made Von Miller into an LB1. Those are some production markers worth making a 'middling attempt' at landing an LB1 in Robert Quinn.

For instance: if an LB1 is valued at $10M, then he's probably worth spending $5M to acquire.
