New to IDP- Need any help gauging needs and value!

Postby hesexpress » Wed Jun 28, 2017 8:12 am

Hello all,

A long time league has had a significant change to IDPs, and where i had (mostly) previously ignored IDPs it doesn't seem like an option any longer.

Any help gauging player values/ team needs would be much appreciated, or a good site for IDP rankings. I read through the beginner's guide and it was very helpful.

Scoring: Offense is normal PPR, However must start 1 qb, 2 RB, and 4 WR/TE (no TE requirement). Also, this is salary cap, however i don't really have any cap problems currently. Defensive starters: 2 DT/DE, 3 LB, 2 CB/S

Defense scoring: All positions
Touchdowns: 6
Fumble Recoveries: 4
Forced Fumbles: 4
Interceptions: 4
Blocked Field Goal: 3
Blocked Punt: 3
Blocked Extra point: 3
Tackles: 1 point for the first 0.5 Tackle, and 1 point for every tackle after that; UNTIL: 5 points for 4 tackles, and 2 points for every additional tackle after reaching the 4 tackle threshold
Assisted Tackle: 1 point for ever 2 Assists
Sacks: 4
Safeties: 2

Current Roster:
QBs: Brady, Cam, Wentz
RBs: Demarco, Ingram, AP, Spencer Ware, Rawls, Langford
WRs: Antonio, Odell, Evans, ARob, Alshon, Golden Tate, Cam Meredith
DT/DE (combined position): Jonathon Hankins, Shaq Lawson, Rob Ninkovich, Muhammed Wilkerson
LB: Donte Hightower, Clay Matthews, Brandon Marshall, Wesley Woodyard
CB/S: Josh Norman, Devin McCourty, TJ Ward
Picks: 1.02 (whoever of Fournette/Davis)

What I do know: I suck at LB and it seems to be a tackle heavy league (is that even correct)? I have little to no knowledge of IDP in the slightest, so any advice is great advice (good buy lows, guys with potential, or how to even figure out what a good buy low/potential looks like).

I'm trying to move some WR depth, but the only thing I've gotten is Mark Barron for Golden Tate, which I feel is pretty expensive; however I could certainly be overvaluing my players.

Thanks for any/all help!

Yeah, that's tackle heavy and is going to elevate LBs and the top safeties.

Golden Tate for Mark Barron is crazy. How many rounds is your rookie draft? Which picks do you have outside of 1.02, or did you trade away your other picks? Perhaps you can find better value there than what you can through trades.

Who are the top 10 LBs available on waivers? Clay Matthews is worthless in most formats and certainly with your scoring setup.

Top Ten in order will be..
Nigel Bradham, Mason Foster, Malcolm Smith, Karlos Dansby, Gerald Hodges, Nick Bellore, Todd Davis, Markus Golden, Jonathon Casillas, and Bruce Irvin... However Free agency hasn't opened up yet.

No picks other than 1.02, however I was offered 1.10 for Carson Wentz,
Countered: Carson Wentz and 2018 3rd for1.10 and Oliver Vernon
He countered : Vernon, 2.10 and 5.10 for Wentz
I just countered Wentz and 2018 Second for Vernon and 1.10.

Crazy off in value?

Okay, first five FA LBs are certainly interesting. Hodges would probably be number one for me, but they all can swing either way so I would try to pick up as many of them you can roster. You'll know by mid training camp which ones are in line for a larger role.

As long as it's not superflex I would have taken that first Wentz deal for the 1.10. Your last counter is also nice, but LBs are going to be more important for you than DLs. I would try to get some picks in the late 2nd and early/mid 3rd. That's the sweet spot to land quality instant impact rookie LBs. 1.10 is too early to start thinking about LBs so you might want to consider trading down or trading away some other players for 2nd/3rd rounders.

I'd cancel that counter ASAP and go back to Wentz for 1.10 if you can. I value them close but definitely favor 1.10. Vernon is good at DL but not worth a 2018 2nd, 3rd is more like it I think

I like Bradham and Hodges on that list.

I think your best bet is to try and acquire a couple of rookies that won't start this year, but could become full time guys next year. Jalen Reeves-Maybin and Blair Brown are two good stashes that could fly under the radar.

JRM could eventually start in Detroit later this season, but most likely won't until next year. Blair Brown could take over for Telvin Smith if he decids to become a FA after this season.

thanks for all the feedback.

Ended up getting into the draft and have a chance at some good IDPs.

Trade was
Gave: Wentz
Got: Oliver Vernon, Tony Jefferson and 2.10

Currently 2.07 is drafting, and Myles Garrett, Jarrad Davis and Reuben Foster are on the board. Anyone have a favorite pick among these guys? There's definitely a chance 2 of them go, but with OJ howard still on the board (no TE requirement) i doubt that all of them will be drafted. Right now I'm leaning Davis>Garrett>Foster

I tend to go Garrett - Davis - Foster, but the smarter play is probably Davis.
