I gotta be honest, I'm falling for Obi (Real name no gimmicks).

I know he's projected to be a deep safety, but I'm holding out hope that he gets used as a SS, or even a WILL.

I'm watching his tape against Virginia, and the dude is a beast. Closing speed is ridiculous, he's a wrap-up artist, and he's got the size to take a hit from a RB. I'm falling for him for REAL. He struggles to stick with & cover WRs, but that would seem to lend even more to the notion that he might be better suited as a box defender.

I'm with you mostly. I adore him as a player I'm much lower on him in FF because I think he's a perfect fit for a two deep scheme. Because of the flexibility you referred to.

I think he'll end up in Cincy or Tampa or Tennessee or a team that does not use such rigidly defined strong and free safeties. He's so similar for me to Shawn Williams of the Bengals. Really good player but not as an IDP

Obviously that means his ceiling is far lower for us.

Anyone else intrigued by the chatter that some teams might see him as a CB? I must admit this would an interesting project, should a team try this. Just imagine having a 6'4/224lb CB with 4.40 wheels, he would be a nightmare for opponents in the RZ, he's a good tackler too so not a liability between the 20's either. I can't wait to see where he lands... he screams Seahawks to me! Green Bay would be another interesting landing spot.

He can't cover NFL WRs. Maybe Funchess...

I'm inclined to add him if he goes undrafted. He could viable compare (size) to Kam Chancellor, although much more athletic.

Not nearly the in the box player as Cam. He's not a CB, but could play one inside the 5 where jump balls could happen perhaps. for fantasy, I'm staying away.

I'm no expert at breaking down Safety tape, but watching his games he looks like a much better tackler & run stopper than cover guy. He really does look more like a WLB than a deep center field type.

I'd go with your gut and what you saw. Probably watched more on him than me.

I didn't watch anything on him. I only read in a number of scouting reports. I don't draft safeties, corners, kickers, nor punters. I figured I would take an undrafted stab at him.

FWIW I really like him in coverage and as a run-stopper. What makes him a good prospect for me is the combination of both attributes.

Which is also exactly why I think he could get drafted as a do-it-all 2-deep type rather than a specialist SS or FS. Which leaves him in Shawn Williams no mans land. Although Quintin Demps or Mike Adams would be equally accurate. Good players on good units. But not enough individual stats or highlights to be stars for us.

Also scarily - Obi's workout numbers via mockdraftable are really not that far away from David Bruton's...

To combat that last point Obi absolutely killed Ethan Youngs Slaytics system.

All in all: I have no clue. But I love watching him.
