NO : Alex Okafor from LB to DE

Is this the biggest value increase in this group?

Theoretically it would be, but I don't think he will play more than 50% of the snaps. Back end of roster in a 50+ man team...

Aaron Lynch to DE is a nice switch. I'm expecting 7-10 sacks with guys like Thomas, Buckner and Armstead chewing up blocks.

In DT-weighted scoring, DeForest Buckner gets a massive leap.

Is MFL set with their designations, or is one more update coming down the pike?

Damn it I was hoping Branch would slide through as a CB.

I've enjoyed reading about this topic. I'm probably older than most of you so I'll admit to being set in my ways. I love some 4-3 defenses and really love monsters in the middle with one big, strong, and fast (Mario Williams-type) dude on one side and then a smaller and even faster (Jerry Hughes-type) dude on the other. Although my preference would be to have a "smaller and faster" guy who was a bigger dude than Hughes, he has had a pretty impressive career as that guy. I think most people would admit that BOTH Williams and Hughes don't fit at LB and DE respectively but they both have been switched back and forth between those positions on MFL and/or Roto. Many would say Hughes is a LB and his size surely would support that. However, he has never produced LB numbers. Not one time. His job has been, and always will be, to get after the passer. His size says LB but his "job" says speed and pressure guy. Same with Williams. He doesn't have LB tackle numbers in any single year he played. I've had both of them on my roster and I've suffered through both of them being switched from their "real" position to their "fake" position.

To go back to my original issue, I literally had 9 defensive linemen and 10 linebackers on my roster. Through the "player position switching" I ended up with 4 defensive linemen and 15 linebackers on my roster. My league starts 3 DL and 3 LBs so how the heck am I supposed to work through that for a season? I've got five dudes on my roster at LB who are 280 through 300 plus pounds none of whom can hold the jock of my other LBs (using our LB scoring system compared to DL scoring) after I drafted them to be D-Linemen? So, am I supposed to trade away a bunch of overweight LBs who I can't use? Tried that. The fact is I couldn't trade any of them b/c everybody knew they couldn't do anything as LBs in our scoring system, so I was forced to dump players I drafted for my dynasty league and picked up others to fix the problem. Wrong. So the next year my leagues fixed that problem. When these "player position switches" happen I allow owners to "switch 'em back" if they want to. I have very specific timelines to accomplish these switchbacks and only allow them once so the owner must be on top of it or loses the opportunity. Some choose to do that while others leave them as is. At the conclusion of this 2017 season, Khalil Mack is the #13 LB in one of my leagues, while in the other he is the #1 DL. Which Mack do you want on your team? Heck, I'd take either one of them but I happen to have the #1 version of him on my particular roster. Sure makes him a lot more valuable as a trade piece if I were so inclined.

As a few people have pointed out, our MFL lineups don't specify an Edge position although it is very real in the NFL. Our lineup submissions allow us to interchange CBs and Ss but do not allow us to combine DLs and LBs which the NFL use interchangeably all the time. Maybe that'll change someday.

Since this post is back up....

What are the chances Clowney is an LB next year? He was a DL on CBS in 2017 for the first 3/4 or so of the regular season, then he got the LB designation added so now is he listed as both DL and LB, which is very rare to have 2 positions listed. Note that K Mack is still just listed as DL as he has been for the past several years on CBS.
