Zach Brown a Redskin

I scored Zach Brown off the waiver wire prior to last season, and watched in amazement this off-season as he started to gather dust in free agency. Let's hear it. Where does he rank among LBs in a tackle heavy league, as a Redskin? —Best, Steve

This is a very weird landing spot to me, but in that 3-4 defense I could see him racking up tackles again.


Probably like the LB20 or so to me.

If he earns a 3-down role, he'll have decent value but not nearly what he was last year.

This was probably the second best destination of the 4 teams that were interested in him. He avoided being the SAM in Miami and the confusing depth chart in Buffalo. But this isn't as good of a destination as Oakland. In Buffalo, he had an amazing D-Line in front of him to keep him clean. After they let Baker walk, Washington's D-Line is garbage.

I've got Brown in two leagues. He was a popular "sell high" at the end of last season, but I held, seeing where he ended up. I may try and sell now if I can get top 5-10 LB value for him. If I can't, I'll probably hold him as an low LB2, LB3. Don't tell anyone in my leagues...

I personally hold the view that after the top couple options, LB rankings are almost meaningless for at least 25-30 guys. At the very least, a re-draft mentality is the most sensible one.

So Brown to me is the same as Tahir Whitehead, Malcom Smith, K. Alonso, & K. Wright from a fantasy perspective. He's a citizen inhabiting the vast LB2 metropolis.

This does make me nervous for my Will Compton shares. I was hoping to squeeze 1 more year out of him.

I don't like it for Brown. Bad situation, imo. I'd dump him for a couple prospects
