Need LB advice

Postby Scorp » Thu Jul 15, 2010 9:44 am

12 team PPR dynasty, my current LB's:
Angerer, Pat IND LB (R) - 7 pick 35.01
Durant, Justin JAC LB - 9 pick 25.01
Kindle, Sergio BAL LB (R) - 8 pick 24.12
Lewis, Ray BAL LB - 8 pick 23.01
Misi, Koa MIA LB (R) - 5 34.12
Ruud, Barrett TBB LB - 4 pick 6.12
Witherspoon, Will TEN LB - 9 pick 33.02

I was thinking of dropping Angerer for Jonathan Goff. Is this o.k. or should I maybe consider any of these other guys?
Williams, Jamar CAR
Fujita, Scott CLE LB

It's hard to tell without knowing your scoring.
Is it tackle heavy or sack/big play heavy?

Depending on scoring, Misi and Kindle may not be worth keeping around.
Kindle is gonna be playing OLB and will not rack up tackles. If it's sack heavy that a little different but think Suggs. Difference is, Suggs is generally listed as a DE so he doesn't lose value.

Misa.....meh. Danby is the man in MIA and I believe Crowder is still there too.

It's hard to tell at this point how things will shake out in Car. If they leave Beason at MLB, Williams will most likely take over WLB (Davis' position) and has instant value. The alternative is Connor goes to MLB and Beason moves to WLB.

It's called a "big play" league, here is the scoring...
http://football23.myfantasyleague.com/2 ... 66526&O=09
I missed out on the LB and WR positions in this startup dynasty, but I figure those positions vary so much from year to year, that it should be relatively easy to repair.

WOW that's alot of points for sacks. I'd hold onto to Kindle than for sure.
Angerer is not gonna pay off this year but I like him for 2011+.
He'll take over for Brackett in Indy and should produce real nice stats.
If you think you need to make a move, him (Angerer) or Misi would be the guy to drop, imo.
Goff could yet win the MLB job in NYG. I don't think they'll just hand it to Dillard.

Have you considered Stephen Cooper or Dhani Jones. I noticed these two were FAs in your league. Goff, Williams and Fujita may or may not be starting, Dhani and Cooper are productive (at least in 2010). They won't give you big plays but they will provide some steady tackle numbers.

I would drop Misi to add either.

I agree on adding Stephen Cooper - he's had great seasons for me, and always seems to be flying below the radar. D.Jones would be a good add as well.

I'd think about cutting Witherspoon, he is up there in age and has Rennie Curran (one of Spencer's mancrushes) waiting behind him. I'd also look into getting a new DE - with the retirement of Jason Ferguson, the Dolphins have moved Randy Starks to nose tackle and his production should take a hit.
ECFFL (Commissioner) - Mullet Mullitia
Gridiron 3 - Hamden Hawks
UDL - Connecticut Cowboys

I'm aware that Starks is supposed to be moved to NT, so maybe I should drop Starks and Witherspoon for:
Cooper LB (SD) & Charles Johnson DE (CAR)?

Fujita, Scott CLE LB Free Agent - Add - Delete
Fasano, Anthony MIA TE Free Agent - Add - Delete
Joseph, Linval NYG DT (R) Free Agent - Add - Delete

I agree that Cooper and Johnson are the best for now - but keep an eye on Jamar Williams. With WLB Thomas Davis out, it will be interesting to see if the Panthers keep Beason at MLB and play Williams at WLB or if they shift Beason to WLB and play Dan Connor at MLB. If Jamar Williams gets to start, he's definitely worth a roster spot.

Definitely drop Starks for Charles Johnson.
You might still be able to get a productive year or two from Witherspoon but he's for sure dropable.
I also think to pick up those LB's - Garrard and Coffee can be dumped.

I agree with this - if you can get anything at all for Garrard, do it, but otherwise he's dump worthy.

I can't get anything for Garrard right now, but will look into it during the season. I couldn't bring myself to drop coffee, just yet. I want some players who will be a part of that SF offense. I may have to play this season without a TE if Gates goes down, and it's going to be difficult filling a bye week for him.
New Roster:
Bradford, Sam STL QB (R) - 9 12.12
Brady, Tom NEP QB - 5 4.12
Garrard, David JAC QB - 9 27.01
Roethlisberger, Ben PIT QB (O) - 5 13.01
Barber, Marion DAL RB - 4 9.01
Coffee, Glen SFO RB - 9 26.12
Dixon, Anthony SFO RB (R) - 9 17.01
Gerhart, Toby MIN RB (R) - 4 16.12
Johnson, Chris TEN RB - 9 1.01
McFadden, Darren OAK RB - 10 7.01
Moreno, Knowshon DEN RB - 9 3.01
Heyward-Bey, Darrius OAK WR - 10 19.01
Jones, James GBP WR - 10 22.07
Kelly, Malcolm WAS WR - 9 30.12
Moss, Randy NEP WR - 5 2.12
Moss, Santana WAS WR (P) - 9 11.01
Naanee, Legedu SDC WR - 10 FA
Nelson, Jordy GBP WR - 10 31.06
Sanders, Emmanuel PIT WR (R) - 5 31.01
Thomas, Devin WAS WR - 9 18.12
Ward, Hines PIT WR (P) - 5 10.12
Gates, Antonio SDC TE - 10 5.01
Johnson, Charles CAR DE - 6 FA
Johnson, Michael CIN DE - 6 22.12
Tapp, Darryl PHI DE - 8 32.12
Cooper, Stephen SDC LB - 10 FA
Durant, Justin JAC LB - 9 25.01
Goff, Jonathan NYG LB - 8 FA
Kindle, Sergio BAL LB (R) - 8 24.12
Lewis, Ray BAL LB - 8 23.01
Ruud, Barrett TBB LB - 4 6.12
Witherspoon, Will TEN LB - 9 33.02

IMO, you've got the guy that matters in SF if something happens to Gore.
Coffee had a shot last year and was rather unimpressive. There's very little stopping Dixon from taking over for Coffee.
I'd sacrifice that to add Dhani Jones.
As for Garrard, don't know if he'll garner any more interest during the season when people can actually see how terrible he is week in week out.
He'll never see your lineup with Brady and Big Ben, plus he's taking up a roster spot that could be better served elsewhere. With Brady's bye falling during Ben's suspension, I'd rather start Leftwich than Garrard that week.
