Building around defense

Is it just me or does anyone else prefer to build up a dynasty and put a fair amount of focus on their defense? I used to never be until about three years ago I was in a league where a dude was 6-6 looked like he wouldn't make the playoffs had a mediocre offense but an elite defense and ended up making it to the final round and lost in the championship by under 10 points, all because of defense! In my league idp scoring is heavy so is a good or bad tactic to use? Ex ship back up WR 3/4 for a Lb1/2 trade away early picks but keep thirds and back for rookie IDPs? Just want to get the experts analysis! As always I appreciate you're feedback!

Yes. I populate a valuation chart of every league I am in, and they always show me where to sock my capital. Of course, you must build a deep roster to sustain the annual plague of injuries, but that should not be a problem if you stay in your lane. Don't worry about how fast everyone else is driving.

I neglect DB & LB for the most part, because I'm confident I can find cheap starters for almost free.

BUT, I throw massive money/draft capital at DL because DLs are the only positions in IDP that directly reflect talent, similar to WR
