Deatrich Wise Jr... Stud prospect? Or big body with no game?

To those of you who really get into IDP scouting, any idea why Wise isn't a more highly touted prospect? He's got the ideal body & frame, at around 6-6/270, seems to have a nice blend of power, quickness, and good hand movement rushing the passer. I watch him & I see a 1st rounder! But obviously I'm missing something, I'm just not knowledgable enough to know what I'm doing wrong in scouting him... Any feedback is very appreciated!

He was a darling of Kiper and McShay last summer after a huge second-half of the 2015 season. He fell out of favor with a mediocre 2016 season (3.5 sacks after he "guaranteed" 13) because he played through a broken hand and separated shoulder.

Haven't watched him yet. But I'm ploughing through tape at the moment. If my wedding anniversary wasn't in the way I'd watch him today.

Dude is a beast. I get what the above poster is saying about his inconsistency and production fall off this year, but man... You can't coach 6-6/270

Certainly seems like a great edge class. I loved Takkarist McKinley so far.

Although I don't see the carl Lawson love yet. Leaves me a bit cold so far

I was extremely impressed watching one of Lawson's games but I can't remember which one.
Injuries are his bane

I haven't seen anything on him yet, but if he's 6'6 270 and injury prone, I'd use Dion Jordan as a cautionary tale. Height can work against you without the strength to compensate for a higher center of gravity. Nobody ever says "he plays nice and upright".

I will have to watch some clips of him to see if that's the case.

Patriots.com lists him at 6'5 275. He's got good size. Belichick is too advanced for me to even project his role.

I would know just like to take 30 seconds out of your day and give myself a pat on the back. Called him out in February as a legit talent. Now in the mix to replace Nink!

He is listed as a DT in my league and we get to start a DE/DT combination, so obviously not many DTs are rostered. Is he worth a stash in my league do you think? Our point system favors tackles, assists, tackles for a loss, and sacks.

He's probably not worth stashing in that league, if I'm reading your settings correctly.

I would place him alongside DLs like Henry Anderson, Aaron Lynch, Jordan Willis. Guys who could easily have DL2-3 production this year, or be out of the league in 2 years.
