Valuing IDPs in trades for Rookie Picks

Postby TB3falcons » Thu Jan 26, 2017 7:43 am

I am having trouble with how to value IDPs in deep (53 man rosters) 16 team league, actually like the one in my sig- but I'm in a few of them.

What are IDPs values compared to rookie picks? For example, I have an offer of 2.03 for Shazier on the table. I feel like Shazier, if healthy, could be one of the top LBs in the league. Kwon was the LB1 and #5 overall player in our league.

How do you value IDPs? Is an early 2nd worth trading Shazier for?

I would take the 19th overall prospect over Shazier but it's close. Linebackers and DBs are very replaceable if you stay on top of your waiver wire. Granted, it's harder in that deep of a league, but that's just me. I go zero LB

Accepted the trade. Actually made it Shazier + Vigil + mid-to-late 7ths for 2.03 and 5.03.

Still curious as to what the general guidelines on trading IDPs is. Obviously they aren't valued as highly as they may score. For instance, Kwon should technically be worth more than 1.01 since he was the #5 overall player, but he is not.

That's because LB pts are highly replaceable off the waiver wire. Also, defensive scheme changes make IDP Studs very erratic year to year. Think of how Lavonte David, Brandon Marshall, CJ Mosley, and Stephone Anthony were valued 9 months ago, va today

It's very tough. That is one main reason to build your IDP with your own picks. Too hard to set a bar. I love Shazier, but health issues would have me leaning pick in this case.

I play in leagues with roster setting just like yours....might even be one of your leagues....
I build my IDP thru consistent LBs (u may miss once in a while...see above post) and then thru the draft and a very active waivers. As far as trading most guys won't trade offensive players for IDPs as a rule. I'm kinda the opposite. I'm looking for maximum points out of all my staters regardless if it's offense or defense. A strong IDP and a mediocre offense can still win u a championship....again it's all about max points. Just keep that in mind when searching out trades. Sometimes in a trade for 2 different offensive players I'll throw an IDP in as an extra and collect talent.
