To Burfict: "Bye, Felicia"

Postby bruiser » Sun Jul 24, 2016 6:00 am

Looking at his contract, I see that Cincinnati can save $4m by parting ways with this colorful, yet costly character next year. His 3-game suspension opens the door for his replacement - PJ Dawson - to shine like Jordan Hicks circa Week 2-9 in 2015. Cincinnati also used a 3rd round pick this year on Nick Vigil. He will also likely be forced to wait the Marv Lewis red-shirt season.

I drafted Dawson everywhere last year. I have high hopes for this guy and his elite non-measurables.... he reminds me of Lavonte David. When you can get cheap shares of a WLB behind an elite defensive line, BUY THEM ALL!

Ok, full disclosure about this statement on March 31, 2016: I was trying to throw some lurkers off my trail until Dawson was effectively on my every squad. That goal is now accomplished, and I can begin beating the drum for him again :D

I know from reading some of your other posts that you typically don't like to project out more than a season or two, but who is your long term preference between Vigil and Dawson? Say, over the next 3-5?

As one who owns them both in every league, I'm reeeeeeeaaally hoping for both of them to be the future. Dawson at WLB, Vigil at MLB would be awesome for me. It could be a super-productive duo like Laurinaitis/Ogletree, Keuchley/Davis, etc.

.... fingers crossed.

But if you could only pick one? Lol

Right now: Dawson is ready to go. He's done his redshirt season and looks to have the opportunity. Vigil is seen as a better athlete (testing-wise) and had big college production to back it up, so I could easily make a case that Vigil is the future...

I'm not connected to their front office, so as an owner of both I just hope one will pan out.

It looks like Christian Jones CHI has lost his job due to FA grabs; would you try trading him for Dawson? 53 man roster IDP and I have a good mix of vets, starters, and prospects.

In a heartbeat. You'll probably have to add something to Jones as Dawson owners aren't down on him for any real reason. Try adding a 5th round pick on the low side. Jones by himself has no face value, imo.

Have an offer on the table my 17 2nd (almost certainly pick 22-24) for Forsett+Dawson. Much inclined to take it (have Dixon so Forsett should help cover until the RB situation becomes more clear).
