Saints LB Situation

Postby dynastyfootball11 » Tue Mar 22, 2016 5:32 pm

Stephone Anthony I would presume is the LB to own here, due to youth and production in his rookie season.

But will there be another productive LB in that DEF?

Ellerbe sucks, if I had to pick another LB to own in the Bayou I would say Kikaha just because of his pass rushing skills, he showed some promise to make plays last year.

We really need to draft a DL to help take up space in the middle so Anthony has an easier time making tackles... and if someone besides Cam Jordan who could rush the passer consistently that would be nice.

Lauranaitis had a large amount of tackles for years with the Rams as their starting MLB. I would think that between him and Anthony, it's going to be like the Greenway/Kendricks situation in MN or the Butler/Perryman in SD, Poz/Telvin Smith in Jax..Etc. Lauranaitis will be the sub in veteran every now and again at MLB while giving Anthony breaks in between. How much they use him is questionable. But in a tackle heavy league, he could have value for sure.

I think Lauranairis is worse than Poz and Greenway, plus he will be in a position he's never played before. I would be very tepid with him and not expect what he's done for tackles in prior years. I think he will even rotate with Robertson. I'd be selling on name if I could.

If he does get to hold a starting job he could be viable, though a low ceiling given he never makes any plays.

Well it looks like Anthony will be on the strong side, Kikaha will move to DE and Laurinaitis will be MLB.

I think this improves Kikaha's value greatly if he is designated as DE and improves Laurinaitis as well.

Surprising move. Drops Anthony value, though temporary as I assume he will be back middle down the line.

I don't trust this info this early in the offseason.

Me neither but it helps to be preemptive in these situations.

I would still think Anthony is the one to own here. In passing situations when only 2 LBs are on the field I would be willing to bet Anthony stays on the field and Laurinitis comes off.

I agree, Anthony actually looked really good last year as a rookie on a crappy defensive unit, he's one of the only bright spots we have on that side of the ball.

Curious.

Anthony is penciled in as a spot starter for me this year.

I have Kikaha on a v cheap contract but at this stage I'd expect to be moving him on quite frankly. Might even be droppable regardless of whether he is listed as a LB or DE

Don't drop Kikaha...he'll move to DE and have decent value I bet, he can only go up from last year when they add more talent around him.

But who would you drop over him at DE? I'd like to carry 4 of them this year:

Henry Anderson
Jadaveon Clowney
William Gholston
Jabaal Sheard
Odhigizuwa

Looks like a very soft trade market at DE in the league too

Clowney's a LB...is there a position designation change I haven't seen for him?

DE in my league. I petitioned for him to count on the basis of him playing more than 50% of his snaps at end in sub packages. Slightly cheeky but it worked.
