Saints WLB

Is it Ellerbe if healthy? Does he overtake Hawthorne as WLB?

I think Ellerbe should be able to beat out Hawthorne for the WLB position
WR: OBJ, Dez, AJG, K. Allen, Crowder, K. White;
RB: Gurley, Montgomery, Lacy; QB: Wilson, Goff; TE: Eifert;
DL: Bosa, Danielle H., Ansah, Frank Clark;
LB: Telvin, Kwon, Collins, Jatavis, D. Lee; DEF: KC;
DB: Burnett, C-Dix, S. Davis; K:

Rookie Bench: C. Coleman, Doctson, N. Spence, Jaylon, Jack;
IR:

Start 1 QB, 1 RB, 2 RB/WR/TE, 2 WR, 1 WR/TE, 1 TE, 1 K, 1 DEF, 4 LB, 3 DL, 4 DB
12 teams, Non-PPR, tackle heavy w/ TFL.

I think I agree here but in reality I don't want to touch either. We know what these guys are and its not that helpful in IDP

Reviving this age-old question. Two years later... still wondering if it's Ellerbe.

As usual, it's an avoid situation. Hawthorne has been flat out bad for them, not sure how he's even on the roster these days. Ellerbe can't stay healthy, Anthony I've never thought much of and Anzalone doesn't look special to me.

I'm perfectly content rostering Craig Robertson and hope he stands out as the best of the worst.

If he can stay healthy Anzalone can play a good bit for us in 2017, that's a big IF though. I could definitely see him earning a starting role, most of the other LBs on the roster are straight out terrible IMO.

When we drafted him I was ecstatic after seeing him standout all week down here during Senior Bowl week and LB is a MAJOR need for us.

Ellerbe has been placed on IR. Clears up the picture a bit at least

Maybe, I like Anzalone too. Could see Anzalone at WLB, Anthony in the middle and Robertson at SLB (or those 2 switched...)

Edit: Forgot about AJ Klein, he'd probably start over Anthony

Te'o is still a perfect zero-LB candidate. Just sayin... maybe he wins a job.

He hasn't been the same since his GF died.

Lol.

It might be worth mentioning that they put Ellerbee on IR based on him not clearing his physical and are planning to cut him with an injury designation when he is expected to be healthy in 3-4 weeks. When healthy he was their most talented LB last season so them deciding to cut him loose at this point is more about them deciding to move on rather than Ellerbee being out with a new injury. To me that means that they must have been pretty happy with what they've seen from their other guys in the offseason, I'm hoping it is because Anzalone has impressed - he is for sure the most high ceiling guy from a dyno standpoint.
