Zac Orr Comeback?
is this just a blurb, or does he have a shot? thoughts?
my problem with it, is that they never said exactly what was wrong?

Re: Zac Orr Comeback?
If he does come back I'm selling high on last years production, I think a lot of it came from playing next to mosely

Re: Zac Orr Comeback?
I read an article on what was wrong with him, so I will break it down here.
Orr was born with an undersized vertebrae in his back, a conditions that effects less than 1 in 100 individuals. He saw a doctor last year when he had two herniated discs. The doctor he chose told him he could die if he returned to football, so he planned to retire.
He then had a different football player tell him to talk to a different doctor. The second doctor had a much different opinion and told him that he had no more risk of injury than a person with a normal spine. Although, he was at greater risk if he tries to play through herniated discs. He got additional opinions that agreed with the second doctor.
As a result, he's looking at returning to football. Although he's now a free agent because he never turned in him retirement paper work and the Ravens never tendered him.
It sounds like there was no 'injury', it was more of a condition that led him to believe he shouldn't play. It should not impact his ability to play and there is no further concern other than that the obvious concern of a player's single breakout year being a fluke versus reality.

Re: Zac Orr Comeback?
Just read on Bleacher Report he has a visit scheduled with the Lions (wouldn't that suck for some other IDP LBs). 8 other teams have called to inquire. Im thinking Indy or NYG but the best spot would be for him to go back to Baltimore IMO
Re: Zac Orr Comeback?
If he lands Indy, his price will undoubtedly go up based on a situation alone. I'm not sure on Detroit they seem to have their plans around LBer, but maybe they are looking to replace Whitehead completely.

Re: Zac Orr Comeback?
I've viewed him as more of a good IDP LB, not so much a good NFL LB, but I guess we'll see how teams actually value him by what kind of contract he gets.

Re: Zac Orr Comeback?
Those awards are pretty much a joke. But I'm sure you've watched him a lot, do you think he's a good NFL player or is he just adequate or even below average for a starter?FeartheRavens06 wrote: ↑Wed Jun 28, 2017 3:32 pmNot so much a good NFL LB? He allowed the second most receiving yards out of all LBs in the league. PFF had him as the 81st best LB out of 87 qualifying LBs. 84th out of 89 in run defense. He was a productive player in BAL, but was that more of a scheme thing? If he went to DET it would surprise me if he became a three down player, but for teams like TEN he could perhaps get a larger role. If he went back to BAL I'm not sure he would get the same role, it seems like they're ready to run with Correa.
Re: Zac Orr Comeback?
I agree with this and I had Orr last year. Pretty solid run tackler, but not good in pass coverage. The WILB spot next to Mosley has been fantasy gold. Daryl Stewart cleaned up for 2 seasons before Orr stepped in. Orr isn't terrible, but the scheme helped his fantasy numbers. Unless he finds another 3-4 scheme, I'm only picking him up to sell him. Plenty of other LB's in my league to go get.Oslo Oildrillers wrote: ↑Wed Jun 28, 2017 1:28 pm I've viewed him as more of a good IDP LB, not so much a good NFL LB, but I guess we'll see how teams actually value him by what kind of contract he gets.

I've been debating drafting him in the 4th round of our rookie/FA draft right now as he's just sitting there. Has anyone heard any updates on him recently?

CRICKETS....
I only play in 16x53 with 10+ taxi size leagues with full IDP. All are PPR and most value return yardage. So my opinions may be skewed To these deep roster leagues.

Re: Zac Orr Comeback?
If he hasn't signed by now, the teams he has been talking to have done their homework and decided that Orr is not worth the risk. Let someone else pick him up and take a chance on some other player.
