Treadwell's worth

Postby Detroitcity » Thu Jun 26, 2014 5:58 am

I was just going to comment on the existing Treadwell thread, but this is a different topic

I have a man crush on Treadwell and I have a very strong feeling he is going to be the next Dez or DT type WR. I am in 3 devy leagues and I wasn't able to obtain him in 2 of them (went last year in one of them and was taken at 1.3 in another and I wasn't able to trade up). I have another devy draft coming up next month and he is still available. I currently have the 1.12 and 2.5 picks in our devy draft (12 tm, 2 rounds). M Gordon is available, so I assume he goes 1.1 in the devy draft

My question here is 2 parts;

1) For the league that he is still available, how much do you think I should be willing to give up to move up and grab Treadwell? For example, would giving a player like J Hunter + 1.12 be too much.. or would T West + 1.12, or T Mason + 1.12 be not enough
2) For the leagues that he is already rostered (which both owns value him on the higher end), what do you think a reasonable price tag is for Treadwell? I recently discussed a trade involving A. Morris and was told "no way"... im just trying to figure out if Treadwell's price tag is really that high right now or whether Morris' price tag is really that low

I'd pass on Treadwell and target Funchess and Parker instead at 1.12. Then at 2.5 target Strong or Malachi Dupre, who could be the next Treadwell.

Cup is going off of his value of the players. That's one way to look at it. But another is to look at things the way YOU value the players involved. Since you have Treadwell as the next stud WR, just ask yourself how much you'd pay for a Dez or Julio if you couldn't use em for a season or two. Personally, I'd give any of those options you listed for those guys even if I knew they were going into the Peace Corps for two years and not think twice about it. Then you gotta factor in the risk involved with your scouting. Are you a 100% talent evaluator? 50%? Etc.. If you are mostly spot on, your ideas all seem like good deals to me.

The risk in giving up proven NFL commodities for college superstars like Treadwell is very risky, especially younger college players like Treadwell who have a minimum of two more years in college. Injuries, any potential off-field concerns, hitting his talent ceiling, etc., are all potential pitfalls for these kids. WR is easier to project than probably any other position, so you have that in your favor, but just be aware of the risk vs. reward. Treadwell is probably the next big thing at WR, but what if he's not? Or what if he blows his knee or achilles out? Or goes DGB on the discipline front?

Gotta remember that we're not talking about any 'proven NFL commodities'. OP asked about draft picks, Hunter, and rookies.

He also mentioned Alfred Morris.

If Treadwell is your guy and you've done the homework on him, then be prepared to give up a lot.

I gave two '15 devy picks for Treadwell few weeks ago.

You got a steal unless they were both primo picks (like 1.1 & 1.2). Even then, you probably made out as your devy pool is further diluted by 2015.

I hope that is the entire league's devy rosters, and not just your's. Notable absences are Marquez North, Jaelen Strong, Marcus Mariota. So still some value to be had there, but Strong and Mariota will be gone this year.

Yeah, whole league. We've only had 2 devy drafts
