16 team mock with landing spots

Postby ramsey8582 » Wed Dec 31, 2014 10:47 am

Since landing spot plays such a big factor in fantasy draft positions, I thought it might be fun to try a do a mock based off of Walter Football's 12/30 3 round mock. Let's make it a 16 team PPR. Here is a link to the Walter football draft site. http://walterfootball.com/draft2015.php I've also listed the skill position players landing spots below.

1.01: Todd Gurley

Still going with Gurley here, even though at first sight Gordon might have the quickest path to production in San Diego. He would quickly leap Woodhead and Oliver on the depth chart to claim RB1. At the same time, I think Gurley could do the same in Detroit. Both teams like to play multiple backs and use them as receivers, so I'm going with talent here and Gurley is the best one available.

1.02: Amari Cooper WR

The Jets need help at WR and Cooper is a great dose of medicine. They will have a new coach and system, this may help Gino and the team as a whole. With big Eric Decker opposite, Cooper can have a positive impact. He is also the safer pick in this spot, dynasties are built on good WR.

1.03 - Melvin Gordon

Assuming Matthews moves on, I think even as just a 2-down back Gordon is too good to pass up. Has home run speed, good quickness and can break some tackles. I think before the line turned to garbage they even had Oliver running wild, so a better talent in Gordon could do crazy things with improved line play. Parker is tempting here too as a favorite for #1 duties in San Fran.
12 team standard - 3rd year
Start 1 QB, 2 RB, 2 WR, 1 TE, 1 WR/TE, 1 WR/RB/TE, 1 Superflex

QB - Foles, Bridgewater, Bortles
RB - Gurley, M. Jones, D. Johnson, Sims, McKinnon, Rawls
WR - J. Matthews, A. Robinson, D. Adams, Landry, K. Wright, D. Parker, Quick
TE - Kelce, Ladarius Green

1.04: DeVante Parker

The 49ers would be a great situation for Parker. Crabtree is likely out in free agency and Boldin's age doesn't make him a long-term solution for the team. Parker could be their WR1 as early as 2016, but would easily be WR2 in 2015. Parker has the talent people love in a big WR and has shown great potential in the red-zone. I would've considered Parker over Cooper here because of the situation.

Keeping it moving.
1.05 - Cleveland Browns: Kevin White, WR, West Virginia

Struggled between him and Strong here. Both are walking into great situations as far as playing time is concerned. This guy has protoypical size and good hands. Who know what happens with Gordon between now and next season, this guy may even be their WR1.

1.06 RB TJ Yeldon, Minnesota/Alabama

I'm really torn at this pick - it feels like I'm already down to my 3rd tier, so we're looking at the best of the rest right now.
I can make arguments for QB, here, and think that Mariota or Winston could be taken here, but I'd probably rather trade down and see if one of them falls.
I am leery of any WR that goes to KC, so even though Strong is the next WR on my list, I'm not loving the prospect of Alex Smith throwing to him. Also, the Rams track record of WR draft pick success lately has been very questionable at best, so can't go that route either.
I know that last year, many owners fell for the best landing spot logic in selecting RBs Freeman, Williams, and arguably Sankey too early. Though I did not like that logic last season, I would employ it this season as I think the RB job in Minny is up for grabs, and I think someone with an Alabama pedigree could be the answer there. Thus, my selection of TJ Yeldon, in this scenario.

1.07- New England Patriots: Stefon Diggs, WR, Maryland

Not only is this a great landing spot, this kid is special. He is a hard worker, he loves the game, and he will excel with Brady as his QB.

Wow, the last two picks were interesting.

1.08: Devin Funchess
Falcons would be a great situation for him if he intends on being a TE at the next level.

Thought hard about DBG based on upside or Abdulah based on situation, but going to go with Jaelen Strong at KC for the 1.09.

1.10: Dorial Green-Beckham - WR, St. Louis Rams

I like this situation for DGB a lot actually. The Rams have a lot of talent on paper, both offensively and defensively, but still need to prove it on the field. Now they're looking for a No. 1 wideout and I think Green-Beckham could be the guy. 10th overall, good landing spot, lock it in.

Strong was actually the 1.09. DGB would be 1.10...1.11 is on the clock.

I'll keep it moving. My target WR are all gone so I will take the RB I have 3rd on my board, duke johnson. I think Ryan in Buffalo boost helps whom ever gets that starting job.
