Unique startup with NCAA twist. 2 spots left!
We are down to 4 spots remaining. If you are interested please PM me with your email to get invited to league groupme / mfl / leaguesafe. Below is a basic league description in Q & A form.
Bylaws draft: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1Nri ... Yfx1U/edit
Q: What is the league and what is the buy-in?
A: The FCFL (Fantasy Collegiate Football League) is setup to run similarly to the NCAA Football League. Players are recruited as
freshman and then graduate as seniors, so teams can only have players for up to 4 (or 5 if you redshirt) years. We will have 5 power
conferences of 14 teams and 1 mid-major conference of 16 teams for a total of 86 schools. But just like the NCAA, power conferences
have some advantages, and so we require power schools to pay $50 entry fee and mid majors to only pay $30. We have a 12 week regular season schedule followed up with a post season that includes conference championships, bowl games of all sizes, and of course a college football playoff.
Q: So do you use college players in this league?
A: NO! We use only NFL players. NFL rookies count as freshman the year they enter the league, and in each year that follows they
"age" another year into sophomores, juniors, and seniors. So owners can only use players for their first four years in the NFL, and then once they graduate they move on and you have to recruit new freshman.
Q: What is recruiting and how does it work?
A: Recruitment is the process owners go through to add new players, either freshman or transfer upperclassman, to their teams each year. To recruit a player, owners will bid on them auction style, with the highest bidding owner winning the player. But be careful! Owners only have $1000 in scholarships to allocate, and once you give that scholarship to a freshman, you wont be able to use that money again until he either graduates or you cut him. This means that each year, various teams will have different amounts of recruiting money to spend, causing the market to change each year. Some years you may have a big recruiting class, and others a smaller one.
Q: How do owners have a competitive team when there are 86 owners and we can only use players in their first 4 years?
A: Each conference will have its own separate recruiting auction and player pools, with 2 copies of each player. This means that actually you'll have, on average, 1 copy of each player for every 7 teams (or 8 teams in the mid major conference). This provides more than enough players so that owners can field quality teams.
Q: What platforms do you plan to use?
A: The league plans to use a combination of MFL, leaguesafe, proboards and groupme. MFL will be used for all in season activity like setting lineups and playoff games. We will be setting up a MFL site once they rollover into 2018. Leaguesafe will be used to collect entry fees and payout owners. Leaguesafe will be setup once we hit about 90% capacity so owners can begin paying year 1's dues. Proboards will be used for all the auctions, since MFL doesnt accomodate multiple player pool auctions very well. Finally, there is a league groupme that all owners are encouraged to join for communication day to day.
Q: How does the post season work, and what are the payouts?
A: The post season is divided up into 4 weeks. Week 13 is for conference championships, 14 is for minor bowls, and week 15 is for major bowls. Weeks 14-16 will be used for the FCFL playoff bracket, where the top 8 teams compete for the ultimate prize. While the exact amount has not been decided on, the general payout structure will have the playoff teams making the most, followed by major bowls, and then minor bowls. Minor bowls will be further divided into tiers, so that a team competing in a tier 1 minor bowl can earn more than a team in a tier 4 minor bowl. The goal is for any team who hits 6 wins to be able to "go bowling" just like the NCAA, but specifics on how these bowls get seeded are being worked out as we speak.
Q: Finally, how can I reserve my favorite team?
A: To reserve your team, just send me a PM with your Name, email, and team you'd like to reserve. The list of teams available are in the google sheet below. The spots with a <conference> label just mean those are open to the owner's choice of any team not already named on the chart. So if you want to be Boise State but compete in the Pac 12, that is still possible!
Team availability: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/ ... edit#gid=0
Thanks again everyone, and hope you choose to try out the FCFL! Quick shoutout also goes to Ross Norris and the NCFF, who's league inspired the one we've created above.

Re: New massive startup league: Using real NFL Players in a NCAA style format
Just adding in an extra thought, since I've had some questions about how it'd be possible to field a roster:
Each division will have its own player pool. So with a large number of teams, there would be multiple copies of players, like 8 Todd Gurleys for example. So it is very much possible to have competitive teams with this format

Re: 30 spots remaining! New 86 team startup league with a NCAA twist on dynasty
I sent you a PM.
If I am reading this correctly, there is no difference between mid majors and Power 5, except that it may be a little more difficult to make it to a major bowl game.
The start up draft doesn't have less money correct?
