Re: Somewhat early 2024 Draft thread

40 time isn't king, but RBs who run a 4.7 or worse does have a positive correlation to bad draft capital or in most cases, no draft capital at all. That has a positive correlation to a lack of success in the NFL. If you lack baseline speed at that position, then what's the value? Same thing happened...

Re: Somewhat early 2024 Draft thread

A few questions: Who is your RB1 right now? I know might change post-draft. I'm seeing Benson, Brooks, Allen, etc. Who is the TE2 right now? I'm seeing a few names—Sanders most often. Who is your QB5, and will they be a viable starting QB? I'm assuming Penix or Nix here. All these questions require...

Re: Somewhat early 2024 Draft thread

Speed isn't everything, but I can't think of any RBs who are: - Big - Slow - Don't play special teams And still manage to be valuable fantasy producers. There aren't many combine outcomes that represent doomsday, but running a 4.7 is one. RBs who've run a 40YD =<4.7 since 2014 (the field is much, mu...

Re: Somewhat early 2024 Draft thread

Yeah, good point. And I’ve also seen on Twitter (don’t know how accurate this was) that there are plenty of guys with a high yprr that ended up being busts. So it might be good to throw a dart on a player like that but it’s not really any kind of “sure thing”, if that makes sense Exactly. It's not ...

Re: Somewhat early 2024 Draft thread

McConkey vs zone: 3.04 YPRR vs. man: 2.27 Both are career numbers (2.54 overall for his entire career). Yes, I think that is accurate. There are a ton of stats out there, YPRR (either single year, last year, or total college) is just one (and zone vs man as well). I've been following a guy on Twitt...

Re: Somewhat early 2024 Draft thread

I’ve seen a lot of Ladd hype. I don’t follow cfb, so I’m wondering, if he’s so good, why was he in college for 4 years and why wasn’t his production all that great? I'm having trouble remembering the last Georgia WR with good raw production. That said, McConkey does check some nice boxes statistica...

Who do you like better—Adonai Mitchell or Ladd McConkey? Lately leaning Ladd I’ve seen a lot of Ladd hype. Re: George Pickens, where did we go wrong?

Under Tomlin, Pittsburgh has always had some sort of pure, dynamic separator who they relied on heavily. I don't know if they're going to use their first rounder to get that guy, but Day 2 is usually when the Steelers do serious damage with WRs: - Mike Wallace - Emmanuel Sanders - JuJu Smith-Schuste...

So much discussion over a pick that's been obvious for 3 years now.

And then there's literally 3 threads discussing who they'll draft at 9.

Re: Somewhat early 2024 Draft thread

I think it’s likely they address a different position at 9 at this point. I wouldn’t fault them for taking Rome. It just seems like they could bolster the line or add to elite help to defense with that pick now that they have WR locked down. Very true. 1.09 is a luxury pick at this point. Could eve...

Re: Xavier Legette is your 1.1 now!

My general rule of thumb is to avoid one-year wonder WRs who broke out late, especially if they did it in their 5th year. That said, Legette is on the more interesting side of that archetype. Recency bias could be playing a role here though. 6'1, 221, great athlete, and his one season of production ...

Re: Somewhat early 2024 Draft thread

IMO the Bears have made it a lot harder to justify taking MHJR at 1.01 over CW. CW is walking in to one of the best situations I can remember for an NFL 1.01 QB. Feels like night/day vs. what Bryce Young faced a year ago. It was already questionable to take a WR over CW but the moves the Bears have...

Pickett was/is uninspiring, but Pittsburgh did little to give him a real chance of developing.

Re: All Things Bears

With the way they are stacking the offense, this doesn't feel to me like the moves you make for a rookie QB. Is it possible the Bears are setting up a trade for a more established vet QB instead of taking Williams? No GM who needs a QB has the stones to pass on Caleb Williams at #1. This is going t...
