Re: Ethical question

I don’t understand the grounds for resistance.

I suppose you could remind other owners that they passed on him...FIFTEEN times..

Re: In RSO, which one would you franchise tag?

this is a great stealth use of the franchise tag!

for devalued positions the franchise tag can be a super cheap way of keeping a guy. i don't know the league size or starting reqs, but in a 12 team 1QB league you should be fine with Carr and the wire. tag the DST.

Re: Evaluating value for players on RSO

Do you recommend saving 10% of my cap ? That's a really good question. I agree with bsacks13 about having a plan going in but not being too fixed to that plan if the flow of the auction takes you away from it. When the cap was $130-140M i was trying to keep $10M in cash for inseason moves. in the e...

Re: Evaluating value for players on RSO

a few more thoughts on overspending: -its hard to know what that is. I have been in auctions where i refused to follow the bids on players i wanted...and i found myself overpaying later to get the last remaining guy in a tier OR missing out on starters completely. sure, you can try to fix some of th...

Re: Evaluating value for players on RSO

one of the things that makes the format so much fun is that there are often no apples-to-apples comparisons. SC&C leagues can sometimes be almost completely unique in the value they generate, even in comparison to other SC&C leagues. some things do carry over from regular dynasty, though (though, my...

Re: Snake Draft vs Auction Draft for Dynasty Startup

speaking of which - does anyone know if there is such a thing as a mock auction - I am assuming that there is but that they are rare? mock auctions do exist. as Cult mentioned, the absolutely excellent ESPN app has a host of mock auction options. the software is excellent. the concerns are that it ...

Re: Cohen Hype is Real

If Jordan Howard got hurt, Cohen wouldn't be able to just step into that role, so you lose value there in that Cohen is ONLY a part-time RB no matter what happens. I don’t understand how this is a loss of value. Doesn’t this maintain value where it is? Further: was floor ever a concern with Danny W...

Re: Paid Commish Leagues

Or simply by a commissioner who doesn’t have a stake in the outcome (ie not a team owner).

Re: Paid Commish Leagues

I actually agree with you completely! I have pounded the pulpit hard in the no veto threads, but it bears mentioning that this is the exact reason that, as bad as league veto leagues are, commish veto leagues are worse. Eleven other voices (or 9, 13, 15) are inherently more balanced than *one* other...

My guess, 8 out of 10 fall short in dynasty, and many many more in ESPN leagues.
Exactly.

So, as usual, we agree.

What you are or are not willing to pay for to address that difference in agreement, well, that’s the issue.

Re: Paid Commish Leagues

The best commissioners not only strive for impartiality and fairness, but they hold themselves (and their teams) to a higher degree. I don’t think there is any disagreement on this point. I think the question is how many Stanley Teprovich’s there are out there and how many...Other Guys there are ou...

Re: Snake Draft vs Auction Draft for Dynasty Startup

Just about everyone who has done MFL slow auctions loves them. Doing one nomination at a time would be silly. Part of the challenge is managing multiple bids on various players, while others are bidding on other players. The situation is fluid, unpredictable, and very exciting. Sort of. The live au...

Re: Paid Commish Leagues

Well, even without it being about Phenoms in particular its a fair question. The obvious answer is that a league Commissioner is not objective. They are trying to win the same way everyone else is. They almost certainly *believe* they are acting in the best interest of the league, but even the most ...

Re: New Idea re Determing Start-up Draft Order

Year 1 of the league is NOT your start-up. It is a one-year redraft league done by total points. Standings determine the right to select your spot in the inaugural dynasty draft. Am i the only one that thinks is beyond brilliant? Maybe i’ve listened to too many DLF podcasts, and Scott Fish and Ryan...
