Re: Demarco Murray

Marshawn Lynch was pulled out of retirement to become a starter but Ryan Mathews was untouchable. Good luck figuring out which side of the fence Murray falls on.

Re: Player value in league size

QBs , there are about 15 good ones every year, which makes them not worth a lot in 12 QB leagues (because everybody has one) but worth a lot more in larger leagues. RBs , the dropoff in value between the top 5 and the top 30 is extreme in a 12 team league, and this is true even more in a large leag...

Re: Return of the stud RB as top commodity?

It used to be that the RBs were consistently top scorers, and the one WR who scored as high as the RBs (Calvin Johnson) was worth a ton. And then other WRs started doing it - Brown, Jones, Green, DT, Dez, and instead of moving Calvin down like supply and demand would suggest, we moved them all up. T...

Re: Does this forum overvalue youth (or, more specifically, rookie picks)?

I value top 6 rookie picks quite highly; after that, I'm very willing to trade a pick for veterans. The OP cites Chris Thompson & Kenny Stills though. I'd take any second round pick over them. I think players of that level are easy to replace in free agency or as throw-ins on a trade, so I'll take ...

Re: Guide: How To Trade Like A Champ (15 Minute Read)

I've been using basically this same system for every trade I ever make, for many years over multiple leagues. It helps me avoid certain biases other people fall into and makes me feel secure about sending a quick opening offer.

Re: Have You Ever Protested A Trade Or Voted One Down?

I protest trades that I think are unbalanced by more than the value of a future 1st, but only if the better team gets the advantage. If you want an example, last year in a free fleaflicker startup draft some joker traded startup 1.16 for a 2018 1st and a 2019 2nd plus some later picks that didn't ad...

Re: Who has best chance of holding off rookie replacement?

Obviously Flacco is the most likely to keep his job. Sam Bradford will keep his job as long as his legs hold up. I don't pretend that I can predict injuries. I expect Tyrod to play well, but if the team has a losing record (through no fault of his own) they might bench him. He hasn't shown the abili...

Re: Passing A "Best Interest Rule" Without Consulting Or Telling Anyone

I think such a rule should be implied. Who wants to play in a league where the rules are not in the best interest of the league? Maybe someone trying to profit, but that's not what I'm in this for.

Re: US Supreme Court decision to allow sports gambling.

Just to clarify, this decision didn't repeal the Federal Wire Act or the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act, so interstate betting is still illegal federally. This will allow states to make sports betting legal within the state borders, so long as you don't use a credit card or bank transfer...

Re: What's Wrong With Deciding Things On A Case-By-Case Basis?

Things should be decided on a case-by-case basis in an ideal world, just like the most efficient form of government is a benevolent dictator. The problem comes when people disagree; it's hard to understand or trust that they are acting fairly when they are ruling against you. The human element is ha...

Re: Question about integrity...

I know it is unfair, but as the commish you could actually cheat if you wanted to. Why don't you cheat? Presumably because you enjoy the competition. But unfortunately, to have that competition you have to not only not cheat but you have to not appear to be cheating. The scrutiny is unfair to us all...

Re: Josh Gordon Reinstatement

Really? I was thinking that this is probably a good time to sell. A lot of people have forgotten the risk already. If I can swap Gordon for 1.4 as his DLF ADP suggests then I'm ready to sell. If owners in your league are more wary then hang on and hope the ADP is justified.
