Re: Jaylen Samuels

He got a lot of touches, which is nice, but Samuels doesn't appear to have made much progress actually learning how to play running-back. No instincts as a ball-carrier. He left a lot of yards on the field. Oakland's front seven is soft like Charmin, shoulda been better. Wish Samuels was taller. The...

Re: Dante Pettis 2019 WR3?

The point is there isn't much to gain from cutting Garcon. And rich market teams -- like the Niners -- generally only care about the cap. It's plausible the staff/GM decide the tiny cap savings from cutting Garcon are worth less than having him as a veteran presence on the depth-chart for one more y...

Re: Keelan Cole

Cole's loss of playing time this year isn't wholly undeserved. He does have the second worst PFF grade on the depth-chart. Westbrook is easily the best graded. Moncrief is a distant second to Westbrook. Cole and Chark have a score in the 50 range (59 and 54 respectively), which is supposed to be rep...

Re: Ronald Jones

I all but guarantee Tampa will address RB either in the draft or in free-agency. There's a bunch of decent free-agent RBs this offseason, so I'm guessing free-agency is the better bet. Either way, unless they sign Bell, expect the starter's role to be totally up for grabs in training-camp, especiall...

Re: Doug Baldwin - Cliff ahead?

Won't pay more than a 3rd, and I'd worry if that's too much. Baldwin's yards per catch is down nearly three yards from last year, and it's easily the lowest mark of his entire career. His cap hit next year is 13 mil and his dead-cap is 6 mil. He'll be 31 next season when the season starts. Baldwin's...

Possible career-ender. Gonna be hard to recover at his age, with enough juice for the NFL.

Re: Adam Humpries - What's the deal.?

Something about him makes me think of a young(er) Thielen. Hmm, wonder what that something could be laughed out loud Thielen is 6'2" and has enough speed, size, and play-strength to line up anywhere and make plays deep. Humphries is strictly a slot receiver with little big play ability. They aren't...

Re: Marcell Ateman Anyone?

#1 in the league in yards allowed. #4 in Defense DVOA. #5 in Weighted Defense. #4 in pass defense. #5 in rush defense.

Chicago is better. Baltimore is right there with Buffalo, Denver, and Jacksonville.

Re: Jeff Wilson JR

I'm not buying him long-term. Shanahan typically helps RBs overachieve. Wilson is presently the next man up, and he deserves credit for that, but come 2019, I believe we can be confident that it's the Breida and McKinnon show. McKinnon's dead-cap hit exceeds his cap hit in '19, and I'm sure Shanahan...

Re: Dante Pettis 2019 WR3?

Now that the Goodwin training camp hype train went off a cliff and Garcon's bloated contract probably gets terminated, Dante Pettis is probably the most valuable dynasty WR the 49ers have by a wide margin. They'd only save 1 mil for '19 by waiving Garcon. Don't be so sure he gets cut. As for Goodwi...

Re: Foreman Value Now?

Meanwhile, Lamar Miller has rehabilitated his value. At this point he seems to be a lock to return as the starter in '19. Looks like he's gonna play out that contract after all. I got that prediction way wrong. To all those who drafted Foreman instead of Hunt over a year ago... https://media.giphy.c...

Re: Chiefs to host CJA/Char. West

For now, I suspect it's the third-string 'job' that's up for grabs here by one of these two. Darrel would be at risk of returning to weekly inactive status. If they choose West, I'm certain of it. West would only be reliable depth, and not a lock to beat out Darrel for active status. If they choose ...

Re: Dante Pettis 2019 WR3?

Perused the tape. My favorite catch: https://twitter.com/richjmadrid/status/1069375474122412032. Oh boy. Look how low he drops his hips into the break. A long-strider that can still get the hips low can do special things (e.g. AJ Green). Provided the DB respects his speed enough to fear the go/post,...

Where I live that video would have resulted in automatic criminal charges against Hunt. There wouldn't have been any officer discretion permitted.
I've seen more actual damage done in a playground fight between 10-year-olds.

Re: Dante Pettis 2019 WR3?

Pettis is versatile and can line up at any spot. That's supposedly A Thing with Kyle Shanahan, something he specifically looks for in his WR1.

Glad to see Pettis finally coming online. Richie James keeps disappointing me, though.
