Re: Starting a salary cap league
1. We did a live auction. We have a 10 team league, and started with 25 man rosters (escalated to 28 in year 2 and 30 in year 3). Our league has a rookie draft, but for year one since we didn't have a previous year record to go off of we simply allowed rookies to be signed for 5 years (regular FA we...

Re: Bidding on Rookie Draft Positions
I ended up getting the 1st pick package for 5.475 million. I'm thinking that I got a steal. Well done. I've done some back calculating on what the 1.01 pick is worth (by itself) in my league and the value was basically 14% of the salary cap (rookie contracts have a premium in my league, though). Co...

Re: DT for Jeffery
My take: you are downgrading at WR, but if you can use that extra $8 this year to get another quality WR (low end WR1, high end WR2) then I would do it.

Re: Salary Cap Methodology Debate
@chumway In our league we allow the trade partners to come to terms with the salaries for that year or even beyond. It is similar to the MLB where a team can take on part of a contract for a player that is traded. Most in-season trades end up with the respective teams either taking on the contract ...

Re: Taxi Squad in Salary Cap league
Thanks everyone for the details. I have been trying to put a taxi squad in place in our league for a couple years, but no dice. For perspective, the arguments against it have been: 1) bad teams will taxi squad viable players in order to "tank" and secure better rookie draft picks; 2) addin...

Re: Contract rules
My league uses the same $ amount for every year of the contract, but we have a dedicated rookie draft and the salaries of the players taken in this draft escalate.

Depending on starting requirements you might be a little thin at WR at times this year, but I would take it.

Re: Big AP trade in my league!
I can see why the trade caused a lot of reaction because it will have a lot of effect on this year and also for subsequent years (for different reasons). It is very much a play to win this year while mortgaging the future, which is a strategy that can't be knocked. The AP contract is kind of like a ...

Re: Rice and Lacy for Trent?
At face value I wouldn't do that trade just yet. The TRich to Indy trade is still pretty fresh and I'm wondering if something about TRich (health, he shot a guy) might come out in the next couple days. I wouldn't chance a current and potential future stud with unknowns out there.

My logic: Gio > Bell, Hopkins>>Brown. I wouldn't even counter offer if I was the Bell/Brown owner. I agree that if you can get Gio for Bell I would pull the trigger.

Re: starting a dynasty league and need help!
Personally I would continue with the auction each year. We have contracts based on years, so there is always a player pool available each off season but other leagues allow only a certain amount of keepers, thus replenishing the player pool. In this case you can put rookies into the free agent pool ...
